Vassily Primakov's latest disc presents three of Robert Schumann's early revolutionary compositions, all composed in the 1830s. Annotator Malcolm McDonald describes these pieces as "paradigms of Schumann's youthful, original approach to the idea of musico-literary inspiration." Russian American pianist Vassily Primakov has, in recent months, received high praise from the critical press, with his last CD, 21 Chopin Mazurkas, (BRIDGE 9289) receiving both a "BBC Music Choice" and an International Record Review "IRR Outstanding" honor. These other Primakov discs are available: Tchaikovsky: The Seasons, Op. 37B, Grand Sonata, Op. 37, (BRIDGE 9283); Chopin: Piano Concertos (BRIDGE 9278); Beethoven: Sonatas Opp. 57, 14, No. 1 & 111, (BRIDGE 9251).
