Music of Antonín Dvořák & Ernest Chausson
Louis Kaufman and Artur Balsam
BRIDGE 9225
Bridge's ongoing survey of the career of the Polish piano virtuoso Artur Balsam continues with this two disc set of recordings made in the late 1940s and early 1950s. With the exception of the Dvorák Quartet, Op. 87, all of the recordings were made in collaboration with the stellar violinist, Louis Kaufman. Kaufman and Balsam were frequent collaborators, especially for the early LPs that they made for the Concert Hall label. Those LPs are the source of these recordings, which have been restored by Grammy-winning Producer, Adam Abeshouse. The Dvorák Quartet recording features members of the Winterthur String Quartet, including the wonderful Czech violinist, Peter Rybar.
