George Crumb to receive American Academy of Arts and Letters Gold Medal

What a week for George Crumb! The American Academy of Arts and Letters will be honoring George with their Gold Medal for Music award. This prestigious award recognizes distinguished achievement in the field.

In the meantime, this review of "Voices from the Heartland" (American Songbook 7) from Bridge's Complete Crumb Edition, Vol. 16 appeared yesterday. AND, next week we'll be releasing Vol. 17, which includes the final installment of George's American Songbook series. The composition and recording of these seven cycles have taken 10 years to complete. Congratulations to all: George; all the singers (especially Ann Crumb); and Jim Freeman and Orchestra 2001, who have hung in there for the duration of this exceptionally large project.
